Craig Smee-thank you.

Grateful for Community and Relationships

“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.”—Colossians 3:13–14 (NLT)

Gratitude for family is more than words—it’s seen in how we forgive, protect, and pursue peace.

Our thankfulness is proven by how we love, especially when hurt.

1. Gratitude Guards Against Offense

“Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.”—— Proverbs 19:11 (NLT)

Gratitude helps us overlook offenses instead of fueling them.
We can’t hold grudges and call it love.

2. Forgiveness Is Gratitude in Action

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”—— Ephesians 4:31–32 (NLT)

Thankfulness leads us to forgive—just as we’ve been forgiven.

3. Healthy Families Are Built by Humble Choices

“Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other… Live in harmony with each other… Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.”—— Romans 12:10, 16, 18 (NLT)

Gratitude shows up as humility and honor, doing everything possible to live in peace.

4. Gratitude Prioritizes Pursuit

“So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.”—— Luke 15:20 (NLT)

When we’re truly grateful for our people, we pursue restoration—not just wait for them to come to us.

This Week’s Challenge

  1. Pray for someone who’s hurt you.
  2. Send encouragement to someone you appreciate.
  3. Ask for forgiveness if you need to.
  4. Release someone from offense—even silently.
  5. Show up and be present.

Faith Declaration

I will guard my heart, forgive freely, and pursue peace because I’m grateful for the people God has placed in my life.
