Faithfully Supernatural
This is not your home! We are Peculiar to this earth
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;
—- 1 Peter 2:9
parepidēmois—exiles, sojourners, aliens, strangers, foreigners, different and peculiar to the norm
Because we are not from here—We don’t live like those from here.
As followers of Jesus—we are not called to look like the rest of the world.
Different values, Different standards, Different goals.
WE CAN’T STAY AT THE CROSS
And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you. The world won’t receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you know him intimately because he remains with you and will live inside you.
—John 14:16-17 TPT
They can’t see him… no faith!
JESUS TOOK CARE OF THE SNARES OF THE NATURAL TO FREE US TO LIVE IN THE SUPERNATURAL.
THE HOLY SPIRIT AGE
But here’s the truth: It’s to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away the Divine Encourager will not be released to you. But after I depart, I will send him to you.
—John 16:7 TPT
There was still more work to be done than simply our salvation.
Jesus answered, “I speak an eternal truth: Unless you are born of water and Spirit-wind, you will never enter God’s kingdom realm. For the natural realm can only give birth to things that are natural, but the spiritual realm gives birth to supernatural life!
—John 3:5-6 TPT
NICODEMUS BREAKS AWAY FROM LAW (HIS KNOWN)
HEBREWS FAITH IS UNKNOWN NOT THE KNOWN!
So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine.
—1 Peter 1:6-7
If there is a “genuine faith,” there’s also a false faith.
FALSE (NORMAL) FAITH
Inherited faith.
Shallow faith.
Conditional faith.
HOW IS GENUINE FAITH FORMED?
Faith is formed in the uncomfortable!
TRIALS REVEAL YOUR FAITH.
These trials will show that your faith is genuine. 1 Peter 1:7
A faith that has been tested is a faith that can be trusted.
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
—Luke 22:31-32
PETER FROM FAILED TO FORMED
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
—James 1:2-4
Wrecked with pain—There is purpose in your pain!
God never causes a hurt But God never wastes a hurt!
TRIALS DRAW YOU CLOSER TO GOD.
You love [God] even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.
—1 Peter 1:8-9 NLT
The good news isn’t that God saves us from our trials.
The good news is that God saves us from our sins!
As you grow to depend on God you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.

NICODEMUS SPEAKS OUT
Just then, Nicodemus, who had secretly spent time with Jesus, spoke up, for he was a respected voice among them. He cautioned them, saying, “Does our law decide a man’s guilt before we first hear him and allow him to defend himself?”
—John 7:50-51 TPT
Faith That Is Formed Gives Us Purpose
NICODEMUS ACTS
After this, Joseph from the city of Ramah, who was a secret disciple of Jesus for fear of the Jewish authorities, asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. So Pilate granted him permission to remove the body from the cross. Now Nicodemus, who had once come to Jesus privately at night, accompanied Joseph, and together they carried a significant amount of myrrh and aloes to the cross.
