Catch The Wind – Set Your Sails
Recap
- His Going Is Our Empowerment
- Jesus’ Promise Requires the Spirit’s Power and Our Surrender to it.
- Without the Spirit, Life Becomes Meaningless
Catching the Wind starts with surrender, not striving – sailing not Rowing
1. The Wind Has a Pattern
“The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.””
—John 3:8 NLT
2. The Wind Has a Sound
“Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.”
—Acts 2:2 NLT
3. The Wind Has Power
“And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.”
—Acts 2:4 NLT
4. The Wind Is Breath — Personal and Life-Giving
“Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.”
—Genesis 2:7 NLT
NAVIGATE
Aligning your life with the Spirit’s movement, momentum (power in every moment), and life giving power.
Short Confession:
Holy Spirit, fill my life with movement, momentum, and power. I raise my sails to catch Your direction.
1. The Promise of the Helper (Postured)
“But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.”
—John 16:7 NLT
2. The Choice to Raise Your Sails (Positioned)
“Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.”
—Romans 8:5–6 NLT
3. Walk in Step with the Spirit (Submitted)
“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”
—Galatians 5:25 NLT
4. Cut the Ropes Holding You Back (Aligned))
• Unforgiveness, fear, pride, or doubt can anchor you down.
• You must untie from the dock if you want to move into purpose.
• God’s wind will not move you unless you’re willing to let go.
Personal Reflection
• Ask: What is the Spirit saying today?
• Practice spiritual stillness. Listen daily.
• How can I obey quickly — catch the wind when it blows.
• Evaluate what’s holding your sails down.
• Take a faith risk — raise the sail in prayer, worship, obedience.
• Expect the Spirit to lead — not in theory, but in your daily life.
Faith Declarations
• I am born of the Spirit; I am led by His voice.
• The Holy Spirit speaks, and I listen.
• The wind of God is breathing new life into me.
• I walk in step with the Spirit.
• My life is aligned with Heaven’s wind.
• I will not resist the flow of God.
Confession
Holy Spirit, I was not made to drift — I was made to move with Your wind.
Breathe on me again. Let me hear the voice that shakes dry bones into life.
I say yes to the sound of Heaven. Spirit of God, I yield my will. I crucify the flesh and walk in newness of life. Where You go, I will follow. Where You blow, I will move. I raise my sails and catch the wind of Heaven.
