The War We Don’t See
Series: Revealed – Living Ready in Unsteady Times
Text: Revelation 10–14 (NLT)
Main Idea: Every visible battle is backed by an invisible one. We live ready when we stand in Christ’s victory, speak His truth, and stay faithful through the shaking.
Icebreaker – “What You Don’t See”
Think of a time something was happening behind the scenes that you didn’t realize at first—maybe in your family, your job, or your faith.
How did discovering what was really going on change your perspective or your response?
(Leader Tip: Connect this idea to Revelation’s purpose—it’s not to scare us, but to reveal what’s unseen.)
Discussion Questions
1. Every Visible Battle Has an Invisible Source
Scripture: Revelation 12:7–9 (NLT) – “Then there was war in heaven… and the dragon lost the battle.”
How does understanding that spiritual battles are real—but already settled—change the way we approach the pressures, conflicts, and chaos around us?
When do you find it hardest to remember that the outcome is already decided?
2. Sweet and Bitter Gospel
Scripture: Revelation 10:9–11 (NLT) – John eats the scroll, sweet in his mouth but bitter in his stomach.
Why do you think following Jesus sometimes feels both sweet and bitter?
Have you ever had a season where obedience brought both joy and pain?
What does that teach us about faithfulness in witness?
3. The Age of Witness
Scripture: Revelation 11:3 (NLT) – “I will give power to my two witnesses…”
How does knowing we live between the sixth and seventh trumpets—this age of Gospel witness—affect your sense of purpose?
What does faithful witness look like for you personally right now (home, work, community)?
4. The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon
Scripture: Revelation 12:1–6 (NLT)
The woman represents God’s people, the child represents Christ, and the dragon represents the enemy.
How does this picture remind us that every move of God will face resistance—but also divine protection?
Can you recall a time when what felt like “wilderness” was actually God preserving you?
5. Marked by Truth
Scripture: Revelation 13:14 (NLT) – “He deceived all the people who belong to this world.”
Deception is the enemy’s oldest weapon.
What does it look like to be “marked by truth” in a culture that constantly twists it?
How can we remind each other that truth brings freedom, not fear?
Prayer Focus – Standing in the Finished Work
Invite the group to pray:
- That we would see through the noise and deception of our world.
- That we would stand steady, confident that Christ has already won.
- That our testimony would reflect His victory in everyday life.
Encourage participants to end by sharing one area where they want to replace striving with standing—fighting from victory, not for it.
