Catch The Wind-Craig Smee

Day 1: Embracing the Holy Spirit’s Power Reading: Acts 2:1-4, John 14:15-17 Devotional: The day of Pentecost marked a pivotal moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon believers with power. Just as the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, we too are called to embrace this same power in our lives. Reflect on how you’ve experienced the Holy Spirit’s presence. Are there areas where you’ve been trying to row in your own strength instead of catching the wind of the Spirit? Today, surrender your efforts to God and ask Him to fill you anew with His power and guidance.

Day 2: Unity in the Body of Christ Reading: Ephesians 4:1-6, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 Devotional: Paul’s words remind us that we are called to unity as believers. The church is described as the most empowered, supernatural, and holy arrangement on the planet. How often do we forget this truth and instead focus on our differences? Consider ways you can promote unity within your local church and the broader Christian community. Pray for the ability to see beyond superficial disagreements and focus on the core truths that bind us together in Christ.

Day 3: Correction and Growth Reading: Proverbs 3:11-12, Hebrews 12:5-11 Devotional: The Holy Spirit’s role includes correcting and guiding us. As we learned, “correction only hurts when pride is present.” Examine your heart today. Are there areas where you’ve been resistant to the Holy Spirit’s correction? Remember that God’s discipline comes from a place of love and is meant to help us grow. Ask God for humility to receive His correction and the strength to make necessary changes in your life.

Day 4: Living Beyond Comfort Reading: Matthew 14:22-33, 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 Devotional: Peter’s step out of the boat reminds us that following Christ often means leaving our comfort zones. The sermon mentioned this as an “out-of-the-boat moment.” What is God calling you to step out in faith towards? It might be sharing your faith, serving in a new way, or addressing a long-standing issue. Remember that just as Jesus was there for Peter, He is present with you in every step of faith you take.

Day 5: Catching the Wind of the Spirit Reading: John 3:5-8, Galatians 5:16-25 Devotional: Jesus likened the Spirit to the wind – powerful, unpredictable, and life-giving. Are you positioning your “sails” to catch the wind of the Spirit, or are you stubbornly trying to row your own way? Reflect on the fruits of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians. Which of these do you see growing in your life? Which ones need more cultivation? Ask God to help you surrender fully to His Spirit’s leading, trusting that His wind will take you where He wants you to go, even if the destination is unexpected.
