GETTING CLOSER TO GOD

THE POWER OF PRE-DECIDING

When faced with…………………………………………(this situation),
I have pre-decided……………………………….. (to take this action).

Pre-deciding is setting up a predetermined outcome!

DEVOTION

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these
things will be given to you as well.”—Matthew 6:33 NIV

I will seek first the One who matters most – I am devoted to Jesus.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was
filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the
apostles.—Acts 2:42-43 NIV

Devotion to God is counter-cultural!

168 MOMENTS

Think about how much of your week you devote to different activities.

When we are only partially devoted we become partially determined.

Living fully devoted to Jesus will never happen accidentally.

IN THE VINEYARD

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in
you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”—John 15:5 NIV

Living life with an ongoing, single-minded pursuit of Jesus!

REMAIN

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit
by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless
you remain in me.—John 15:4 NIV

BE THE BRANCH

Predecide: I am devoted to Jesus. I will seek first the one who matters most!

THE GAME PLAN

• Pre-decide a time.
• Pre-decide a place.
• Pre-decide a plan.

God is not a part of your life, or an activity you tag onto your week…

GOD IS YOUR LIFE!

YOUR PERSONAL STUDY:

Read Acts 2:42-43. What does it mean to be devoted to Jesus?

How does your life compare to the lives of these early followers of Christ?

What are some ways that you practice being devoted to Jesus throughout the week?

Journal about some differences between being partially devoted and fully devoted.

Describe a time or moment when you felt close to God.

How does that time compare to your life right now, and what might need to change in your life to begin feeling close to God again?
