Group Discussion — Week 3: Pruning for Growth
Icebreaker
What’s something you’ve had to simplify or let go of in order to grow—at work, at home, or in life?
Discussion Questions
- Jesus describes God as a Gardener.
How does that shape the way you think about pruning in your life?
(John 15:1–2) - Why do you think pruning often feels uncomfortable, even when it’s loving?
What makes letting go hard for us? - The fig tree had leaves but no fruit.
What are modern ways we can look “alive” spiritually without actually abiding?
(Mark 11:12–14) - How does the world pressure us away from abiding?
Where do you personally feel that pressure most strongly?
(Romans 12:2; John 15:18–19) - What is one practical way you could simplify your life this week to stay more connected to Jesus?
Keep it small and realistic.
Prayer Focus
Pray for clarity and courage.
Ask God to gently reveal what needs pruning—not out of guilt, but out of love.
Close by thanking Him that pruning is always done for the sake of greater life and lasting fruit.
