5-DAY BIBLE READING PLAN
Week 3 — The Reflection War
Sanctification through the lens of Romans 5–7
DAY 1 — The Two Reflections
Romans 5:17–19 (NLT)
“For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many.
But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness,
for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death
through this one man, Jesus Christ.
Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone,
but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God
and new life for everyone.
Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners.
But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.”
Reflection:
Every day begins with a mirror moment — Adam’s or Christ’s.
Sanctification starts by choosing whose reflection you will believe.
DAY 2 — Dead to Sin, Alive to God
Romans 6:6–11 (NLT)
“We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ
so that sin might lose its power in our lives.
We are no longer slaves to sin.
For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.
We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead,
and he will never die again.
Death no longer has any power over him.
When he died, he died once to break the power of sin.
But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.
So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin
and alive to God through Christ Jesus.”
Reflection:
You don’t fight for victory — you fight from the one Jesus already won.
Sin no longer defines you; grace does.
DAY 3 — Sin Is No Longer Your Master
Romans 6:12–14 (NLT)
“Do not let sin control the way you live;
do not give in to sinful desires.
Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin.
Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life.
So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
Sin is no longer your master,
for you no longer live under the requirements of the law.
Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.”
Reflection:
Sanctification isn’t God forcing you to perform —
it’s Him teaching you to believe what He already accomplished for you.
Grace rules now.
DAY 4 — The Honest Struggle
Romans 7:15–25 (NLT)
“I don’t really understand myself,
for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it.
Instead, I do what I hate.
But if I know that what I am doing is wrong,
this shows that I agree that the law is good.
So I am not the one doing wrong;
it is sin living in me that does it.
And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.
I want to do what is right, but I can’t.
I want to do what is good, but I don’t.
I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.
But if I do what I don’t want to do,
I am not really the one doing wrong;
it is sin living in me that does it.
I have discovered this principle of life—
that when I want to do what is right,
I inevitably do what is wrong.
I love God’s law with all my heart.
But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind.
This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.
Oh, what a miserable person I am!
Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?
Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Reflection:
Romans 7 doesn’t expose failure — it exposes reality.
You’re not broken beyond grace;
you’re human in need of it daily.
DAY 5 — The Intercessor in Your Mirror
Hebrews 7:24–25 (NLT)
“But because Jesus lives forever,
his priesthood lasts forever.
Therefore he is able, once and forever,
to save those who come to God through him.
He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.”
Romans 8:34 (NLT)
“For Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us,
and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand,
pleading for us.”
Reflection:
Sanctification works because Jesus doesn’t move when you drift.
He stands in front of your mirror,
holding your place,
interceding,
pulling your view back to grace.
You’re not alone in the reflection war —
Jesus stands in front of you.
